The young activists of the Bright Choice Foundation, in collaboration with the Nile Humanitarian Aid Foundation and Embrace Relief, carried out four impactful projects in Uganda. These projects included healthcare, clean water, support for orphans, and the distribution of food packages.
In the healthcare project, they organized a two-day health screening program in the rural area of Jinja city. Over the course of the program, they provided free medical care and treatments to 980 patients. The screening took place at the Walukuba Health Center, where patients were registered, diagnosed, and treated. This initiative aimed to address the limited access to medical care in rural areas of Uganda.
Recognizing the critical need for clean drinking water, the activists focused on drilling water wells. They aimed to ensure sustainable access to safe and clean drinking water for communities. One notable achievement was the drilling of a water well in Namusita village, benefitting approximately three thousand people. This intervention was significant as the village had previously relied on a polluted water source, which posed health risks. By collecting donations to fund the well, the young activists made a lasting positive impact on the lives of the community members.
In addition to their efforts in healthcare and clean water, the young activists distributed 150 food packages to families facing inadequate nutrition opportunities, particularly in regions affected by periodic droughts. This initiative aimed to address immediate food security needs and provide nourishment to vulnerable families.
To support orphans in Uganda, the activists organized a food donation campaign that provided dinner for 250 children at the Wampa orphanage in Jinja province. This contribution helped alleviate the challenges faced by the orphanage, which often operates with limited resources. The officials of the Wampa orphanage expressed their gratitude for the support received.
In conjunction with their humanitarian projects, the young activists embarked on a nature exploration journey in Uganda. They had the opportunity to witness the emergence of the white Nile and marvel at its majestic waterfalls during a boat trip along the Nile River. They also discovered Lake Victoria, the second largest freshwater lake in the world, and immersed themselves in its natural beauty. Additionally, they enjoyed an ATV motor tour in the touristic area, adding excitement and adventure to their experience.
During their journey, the activists visited the Sailing Club by the Nile, where they embraced African culture, music, and folklore. This immersive encounter allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the vibrant heritage of the region.
Furthermore, the activists traveled from Jinja to Kampala, reaching the equatorial line that runs through the heart of the country. They conducted a water experiment to observe the effects of the southern and northern hemispheres. Notably, on March 21 and September 21, they witnessed the water rotating clockwise and counterclockwise, respectively, at the point where the shadow is zero on the equator. This unique experience enhanced their knowledge of Earth's geography and natural phenomena.
At the conclusion of their endeavors, the young activists participated in a dinner, gift-giving, and farewell program organized by the Nile Humanitarian Aid Foundation. This event provided them with an opportunity to reflect on their experiences and the impact they had on the lives of people in need in Uganda. It served as a platform to share their stories and express gratitude for the beauty they had witnessed and the positive changes they had contributed to.
Through their dedication to healthcare, clean water, support for orphans, and nature exploration, the young activists of the Bright Choice Foundation demonstrated their commitment to universal human values and selfless acts. Their efforts, supported by the Nile Humanitarian Aid Foundation and Embrace Relief, have had a lasting impact on the communities they served in Uganda. They exemplify the spirit of giving without expecting anything in return, making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
